They're lucratively violent against Southampton (although most of the fighting's induced by the Saints fans themselves) because it's a derby game and there's been feudals between these teams for ages.

It's one of the only times the two teams get to meet, due to Pompey's lower division running, and there's often a bit of tussle upon the field as well due to this..it's hugely seductive to the beautiful game when fans riot like this..I remember Leeds-Cardiff FA Cup as one of the most recent and memorable...
