    Default Questionnaire about English football

    Hey folks!

I'm from Switzerland and I have to do an assignment to be allowed to make the final exams from my school. I wrote about English football and I would be pleased if you would take 5mins of time to answer my questionnaire and be a part of my work. Thanks alot!

    So here it is:

1 In which city do you live and which football club do you support?

2 How long have you been supporting this club?

3 Do you think there are differences between football’s culture in England and the ones in other countries?

4 If yes, how would you describe those differences?

5 Would you say that football is fairer in England as it is in most of the other countries? (concerning players and fans/hooligans etc.)

6 Would you say that fans, players and officials relate more to a club in England than in other countries? Do they identify more with their club?

7 Would you say that the type of playing football all told is better than in other countries?

8 What do you like most about English football?

9 And what do you like least?

10 Do you think the fact that England is a class society has an influence in its football?

11 If yes, what type of influence does it have?

12 Are there clubs you like more or less than others excepting the one you support?

13 If yes, which do you like and which don’t you like?

    14 Can you describe why?

15 Would you claim having a good knowledge of the history of English football?

1 In which city do you live and which football club do you support?
    A: London (Angel) - Arsenal

2 How long have you been supporting this club?
    A: 20 years +/-

3 Do you think there are differences between football’s culture in England and the ones in other countries?
    A: Yes

4 If yes, how would you describe those differences?
A: Various and too many too specify. Differences varying from how high on the list of priiorities of any person football lies, to the actual attendance of live matches, to how vocal you support, to what type of support (love the game or just a hooligan), what type od supporter (loyal, religious supporter or a fair weather supporte that supports the best current team and changes allegiance every other year. The differences are numerous but I imagine, so are the similarities.

5 Would you say that football is fairer in England as it is in most of the other countries? (concerning players and fans/hooligans etc.)
A: My answer in two parts:
    1. The game - pretty good compered to most of Europe / South America where they fall over and feign injury all the time. Does happen in the English game but to a lesser extent and usually the foreign players.
    2. Fans - Not sure what you mean there but I assume you mean the extent of hooliganism in Football. It is rife in England and unfortunately you are always going to get drunken, racist idiots at the football matches. Part of life. Not sure whether it's the worst but definately up there.

6 Would you say that fans, players and officials relate more to a club in England than in other countries? Do they identify more with their club?
    1. Fans - For the most part (except Chelsea fans, lol) fans are very loyal in this country and stick with their teams through thick and thin.
    2. Players - Unfortunately, the money being offered these days is so astronomical that very few players saty loyal to their clubs.
    3. Officials - Also no loyalty. Money talks, ask Frank Arnesen.

7 Would you say that the type of playing football all told is better than in other countries?
A: The quality of football in England is head and shoulders above any other country in the world. I love Spanish football and Italian football but the Premiership is the best.

8 What do you like most about English football?
A: The fact that it is so much more than just the game of Football. I love all sport but with Football, there is just that little bit extra, e.g. Arsenal's game against Man U to go 50 games unbeaten, Liverpool winning the Champions League or Man U beating Chelsea recently. So much more than just the game. Having said that, the football played is also extraordinary, especially Arsenal, who play an exquisite brand of football.

9 And what do you like least?
A: The diving and falling and faking and moaning (Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, Pires, Diouf) and the lack of technology with regards to difficult decisions. Also, the absolutely horendous decisions that some of the umpires make are pitiful. More than anything else, I hate fair weather fans that change loyalty every other season (CHelsea fans).

10 Do you think the fact that England is a class society has an influence in its football?
A: I assume that by classy, you mean wealthy or financially strong. In that case yes, I do think so.

11 If yes, what type of influence does it have?
A: I think the fact that England is a financial mecca and that the pound is a strong commodity definately influences the 'pulling power' of the english clubs and their ability to attract big name stars to their shores. Also, the media power in England is phenomenal and that helps to attract the money needed to make these purchases.

12 Are there clubs you like more or less than others excepting the one you support?
    A: Yes

13 If yes, which do you like and which don’t you like?
A: I hate Aston Villa because their manager, David O'Leary is a hypocritical, whinging girl. I hate Chelsea because they are a lottery team who only enjoy their current success because their name got drawn out of a hat, where as other teams at the top of the league are there because of years of hard work and success. I love to hate Man U because they are Arsenal's biggest enemy but I have tons of respect for them because unlike Chelski they deserve to be one of the best teams in the world. I also like Liverpool a lot as I have always enjoyed their brand of football and from a young age a lot of my friends supported them.

    14 Can you describe why?
    A: As above

15 Would you claim having a good knowledge of the history of English football?
A: No, fair knowledge and pretty good knowledge of Arsenal but not of English football in it's entirety.
