La Premiership
I saw an two interesting articles in the paper over the weekend. The First was about how football across Europe is recieved by the average Joe; and I found, to my surprise that the Championship (1st division) get more punters through the gate that the French Ligue and the German Bundesliga together!
The second was about the integration of a French rugby club into our Super League (Rugby League). And it got me thinking; what if those Belgians followed the sport of Rugby? UEFA have been pushing for one big league since the 1950s with the creation of the Champions League - and perhaps one day they'll go that step further, and probably ruin English football - which is the most watched league of them all. And it'll be the premiership that'll get the chop. Rebranded or intergrated into a super league - which I don't like the sound of. We'll lose our footballing history and so on.
1. Rename the Premiership cos the French don't like the sound of it; because they've got an issue with adopting foreign words and idealogy - take McDonalds for example, trashed by French yobs cos it's American!
Probably rename it La premier ligue and replace the English hierarchy with some Joe foreigner.
2. Take away our Pie's and replace them with croissants or crepes.
3. Take away the physical nature of our game, to suit their style of play. And when we start hammering them, ban us from our own competition - case in point stopping English teams from competiting in the Champions League because of the actions of one team - Liverpool & Heysel.
