    Default Old Firm

Rangers and Celtic are both quite easily good enough for the Premiership.. Our SPL is an absolute farce we are destroying teams week in week out. As a Rangers fan we had a very poor season still finished 19 pts above the 3rd team. Celtic were 80 pts ahead of the bottom team. The scottish league i feel would be better off without the old firm. And no European league is the solution with team from Portugal and Norway etc it cant work. only solution old firm down south. Rangers n Celtic no lower than 8th

"BUT U NEED TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE GEOLOGICAL FACTORS" ??

Newcastle and Boro manage to make it to Southampton year on year - and Newcastle is under 2 hours from Glasgow - so travelling will NOT be an issue. (Especially as so many home fans will want to see the 'Tic that the away allocation will be reduced anyway!!)

    Could they attract 'big names'?

Absolutely. (Well, after Chelski and Utd - but what's new)

    Would we do well?

Considering that only 3 teams have ever won the Premiership, I'd imagine any top 10 finish for the Old Firm would be deemed a success initially.

And don't forget the most important point - no English manager has ever won the Premiership in 12 attempts - only the Scots and a Frenchman have claimed that prize.
(And since We have Martin and They have Big Eck - that would put the Old Firm at an immediate advantage over the rest!!)

    Regards

    Default Definetly yes

Both the Old Firm teams would easily be able to survive in the Premiership. I reckon they would both be mid to high placed teams in the League. It would be fantastic to have such great clubs with great supporters playing in the worlds greatest league.

However we need to consider the effects this would have on the Scottish League. We would not have any teams of champions league standard....yet. Many youngsters such as the lads at Hibs who are going to be fantsatic players would be trying to get out of the SPL as soon as they could. Also the Old Firm may loose parts of their massive fan base as people would not be able to get to Southampton, London etc every few weekends. Also it would mean that Celtic and Rangers may have to start in one of the lower leagues and work their way up to the premiership or it would mean 5 teams getting relegated or only one promoted the season before they joined, which ofcourse is unfair to the clubs concerned as they have earned their place in the premiership.

Hmm we seem to have forgotten chelski, any player celtic would ever seek would be happily bought by mr abramovich. Plus theres also the fact that the scots hate the english
